Bio
Rylo Rodriguez
Rylo Rodriguez, a rising rapper from Mobile, Alabama, gained early recognition for his innovative sample flipping, infusing elements from mellow R&B tracks, guitar loops, and even a Mariah Carey song into his early material. Collaborations with rappers like NoCap and Lil Baby played a crucial role in expanding his audience. Eventually, he joined forces with Lil Baby's label to release his debut studio album, "G.I.H.F.," in 2020, where he honed his lyricism and delivery.
Having grown up in a Mobile housing project under the care of his grandfather, Rodriguez's music was profoundly influenced by the challenges and realities of his environment. His early tracks garnered attention for their skillful beat flipping, including "Project Baby" in 2019, which cleverly used Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" as the backdrop to depict life in the hood, attracting millions of views in its first year. Samples from artists like Tamia and Leon Bridges also featured in his earlier work.
In 2019, Rodriguez collaborated with fellow Alabama rapper NoCap on the mixtape "Rogerville," which showcased guest appearances from Lil Baby, who was enjoying widespread mainstream success at the time. This exposure further expanded Rodriguez's reach, leading to the release of his debut album, "G.I.H.F.," in November 2020. The album included notable features from Lil Baby, Yo Gotti, Jackboy, and others and achieved recognition, entering the Top 50 of the Billboard charts.
Over the subsequent years, Rodriguez primarily released standalone singles, like "Pallbearers" in 2021 and the collaboration "Regular" with Lil Darius in 2022. In June 2023, he unveiled his second studio album, "Been One," which showcased his artistic growth and featured an impressive array of guest appearances from prominent figures in the rap game, such as Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, EST Gee, and more.
